Horseshoe Scout Reservation occupies 1300 acres on the Octoraro River. It opened in 1928 and is in two states and two counties (Chester County, PA and Cecil County, MD). The reservation is split into two camps. Camp Horseshoe is a Boy Scout summer camp and occupies 1000 acres, and Camp Ware which is a Cub Scout and Webelos resident camp that occupies 300 acres.

They offer a beach on the river, a huge swimming pool, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, Camp Horseshoe has 16 tent campsites and 5 cabins, Adirondack (lean-tos) shelters, a dining hall, a rifle range, an archery range, a shotgun range, shower house, a C.O.P.E. course (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience), mountain biking, an athletic field, a handycraft pavilion, an outdoor chapel, and a health lodge.

Occupies 300 acres. It is s a Cub Scout, Webelos and Boy Scout resident camp that is open year round. They offers, a BB Gun range, an archery range, a huge swimming pool, Camp Ware has 6 tent campsites and 2 cabins, a dining hall and Family camping. • Directions to Camp

  • From the North: Travel south on U.S. Route 1 toward the Maryland State Line... turn right at Route 272. Remain on Route 272 through Glen Roy, Oak Hill, into Little Britain. Take left fork of road as you pass the Little Britain Elementary School, turning off Route 272. Drive into Wrightsdale. Turn left onto Jubilee Road. (Baptist Church will be on your right). Bear right for approximately 0.6 miles. Bear left onto Camp Ware Road. (look for camp sign at fork).

  • From the South: Drive North on I-95 across Susquehanna River and past the tollgate. First Exit (100 yards from tollgate) is Highway 222 & Highway 275. Turn right on Highway 275 after crossing over I-95. Follow Highway 275 until it meets Highway 276. Turn right on Route 276 to Route 273. Left on Route 273 (Route 273 becomes Route 1). Drive approximately 3 miles on Route 1. Turn Right is Connelly Road. Sdrive down Connelly Road approximately 4 miles to Route 222 (north). Take the first right onto Quarry Road. Landmarks at this intersection include a red and white relay tower on your left and 50 yards past Quarry Rd. is a "Welcome to PA" sign. Follow Quarry Road. Turn right onto Jubilee Road and follow it into camp.

Octoraro Lodge #22, (Section NE-4A)

This lodge started in 1926. Their lodge totem is a Flying Goose and their lodge name is Lenape Indian for Name of River Muddy Water.
