Located on 4000+ acres in the Allegheny Mountains on Lake Merriweather (450 acres). Goshen Scout Reservation is divided into seven camps, Camp Olmsted, Camp Bowman, Camp Ross, Camp Baird, Camp P.M.I., Camp Marriot, and Camp Post. Camp Ross and Camp P.M.I. are Webelos Scout resident camps and Camp Marriott offers a Venturing Specialty Program. They offer swimming, motorboating, water skiing, canoes, rowboats, small-boat sailing, fishing, archery range, rifle range, shotgun shooting, a trading post, tent campsites, restrooms, a dining hall (at Camp Olmsted), a C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) Course, a climbing tower, hiking on more than 50 miles of trails, a BMX bicycle course for Webelos Scouts, and mountain biking for older scouts.




• Directions to Goshen Scout Reservation

  • From the National Capital Area Council in Bethesda, MD, take I-495 (Capital Beltway) to I-66 West to junction of I-81 South (about 80 miles). Take I-81 South to Staunton, Exit 225 (about 75 miles). Turn Right off the exit ramp onto VA 275 West to US 250. Turn Right onto US 250 (through Churchville) to VA 42 South. Take VA 42 South through Buffalo Gap and Craigsville into Goshen (about 45 miles). At the edge Goshen town limits (at the bridge), turn Left onto VA 39. Take VA 39 South through Goshen to Goshen Scout Reservation (about 4 miles). Turn Left onto VA 601 and continue for about a mile to the reservation entrance. Total mileage from I-495 (Capital Beltway) to Goshen Scout Reservation is about 192 miles or a 4 hour drive.

Amangamek Wipit Lodge #470 (Section NE-4C)

This lodge started in 1952 and their lodge totem is a Shark's Tooth. Their lodge name are Lenape Indian words that translate to Large Fish Tooth. The Amangamek Wipit Lodge has the following chapters: Chain Bridge Chapter (Arlington, Virginia), Colonial District Chapter (Alexandria, Virginia), Francis Scott Key Chapter (Frederick, Maryland), Patuxent Chapter (Bowie, Maryland), Potomac Chapter (Rockville, Maryland) and the Powerful Patriot Chapter (Fairfax, Virginia).
